DeFi Quant Trader
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Role Overview:
We are working with a leading digital assets trading firm seeking an experienced DeFi / On-Chain Trader to join its New York team. The role is focused on identifying and executing opportunities across decentralized markets, with an emphasis on liquidity, market structure, and alpha generation across the on-chain ecosystem.
This opportunity is ideal for a trader who understands how capital flows through DeFi, can navigate rapidly evolving market environments, and has a strong grasp of both quantitative analysis and blockchain fundamentals. You will work closely with trading, engineering, and research teams to develop scalable strategies across protocols, venues, and asset classes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a proprietary trading book focused on DeFi, on-chain liquidity, and digital asset markets.
- Research, develop, and execute trading strategies across decentralized exchanges, lending protocols, perpetuals venues, and emerging on-chain products.
- Identify opportunities across market-neutral, directional, arbitrage, basis, funding, and liquidity-provision strategies.
- Monitor blockchain activity, token flows, wallet behavior, and protocol incentives to generate actionable trading signals.
- Analyze market microstructure across both centralized and decentralized venues.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to build automated trading systems, execution infrastructure, and monitoring tools.
- Evaluate new protocols, liquidity venues, token launches, and ecosystem developments.
- Actively manage portfolio risk, exposure, counterparty risk, and smart contract risk.
- Optimize capital deployment across multiple chains, protocols, and trading strategies.
- Contribute to strategic decisions around new product initiatives and market expansion.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience trading digital assets, DeFi markets, crypto derivatives, or related electronic markets.
- Deep understanding of decentralized finance ecosystems and how major protocols function.
- Strong knowledge of AMMs, liquidity pools, lending markets, perpetual futures, staking mechanisms, and tokenomics.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and capitalize on market inefficiencies.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skill set.
- Proficiency in Python and experience working with on-chain data.
- Knowledge of blockchain analytics platforms and protocol data sources.
- Strong understanding of risk management and portfolio construction.
- Ability to thrive in fast-moving markets with limited supervision.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a high level of ownership and accountability.
Preferred Experience
- Experience running systematic, quantitative, or algorithmic strategies.
- Background in market making, arbitrage, liquidity provision, or basis trading.
- Experience trading across Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Hyperliquid, and other major ecosystems.
- Understanding of MEV, on-chain execution, and blockchain infrastructure.
- Knowledge of smart contracts and blockchain development concepts.
- Familiarity with SQL, Rust, or Solidity is a plus.
